American Cancer Society grant supports transportation access at Mays Cancer Center
At UT Health San Antonio’s Mays Cancer Center, comprehensive care goes far beyond advanced clinical trials, a leading cancer care team and state-of-the-art technology. It also means making sure patients can get to the care they need safely, reliably and with one less thing to worry about.
Through a $19,000 Patient Transportation Grant from the American Cancer Society, UT Health San Antonio is helping eligible patients access transportation to and from appointments supporting, more consistent, coordinated care at Mays Cancer Center.
Clearing the path forward
For many patients in the San Antonio community, cancer treatment often involves frequent visits for radiation, chemotherapy or follow-up care. Having a dependable way to get to appointments can make a real difference, both practically and emotionally.
This grant strengthens UT Health San Antonio’s commitment to expanding access to care by supporting those who may need extra assistance. By addressing transportation challenges, patients are better able to stay on track with their treatment plans and focus their energy on their care.
“This funding support helps patients gain access to life-saving treatment,” said Jeanie Paradise, director of clinical operations at the Mays Cancer Center. “It helps ensure patients can stay connected to their care teams throughout treatment.”
UT Health San Antonio values its partnership with the American Cancer Society and the shared commitment to improving access to care for patients across South Texas and beyond.
